The 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗻𝗼𝗻 are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They stand at the front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III. This was the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis. They have stood since 1350 BCE and were well-known to ancient Greeks and Romans.  This massive statue is the only remnant of a temple dedicated to 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝗜𝗜.  The Greeks later determined that the figures represented their hero, Memnon!

Just before dinner tonight, between Luxor and Aswan,  our boat passed through the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘀𝗻𝗮. The passage was tight, but the water only took about 15 minutes to lift the ship to the next level.  Of course, some amazing in-your-face street vendors were trying to sell their wares by tossing things onto the boat!  A tough way to make a living!!

Then back to dinner….the food on our ship is amazing, and it is a gourmet meal every night!
