We ended our tour with a late lunch…..a nice gesture on the part of OAT, but only a little food we loved!  Joan loves the dips/pita, but the rice, chicken, and beef Kafta were not inviting.  It was hard to say goodbye to our driver and guide.  We must write to OAT to thank them for our amazing treatment.

So….our trip comes to an end.  Not the journey we expected, but one we were still delighted with.  Although we were not impressed with modern Egypt and its garbage, traffic, pollution, and run-down and dirty buildings……we felt privileged to experience a part of Egypt that the Ancients knew.  To them, it was life over death and order over chaos…. with the sun providing a daily and ongoing cycle of renewal. These are good themes for us to live with today.  

Egypt was one of the greatest civilizations of the past. This trip allowed us to experience the reality of Egypt we learned about in our grade-school textbooks.  The monuments and tombs of the Pharaohs continue to stand intact today. They have withstood the test of time for some 4,000 years. These structures have certainly left an important mark on these two modern-day humans.
