We were so fortunate that the Navajo Nation, which had been closed for 485 days during COVID-19, was now open, and we could see three fantastic sites. Our first stop was a guided tour of Antelope Canyon, a fantasy world of sandstone carved by water, wind, and sand. This “slot canyon” is something we have never experienced before, and we are still amazed by the pictures that the guides helped to take!

Also on Navajo land was Horseshoe Bend, a meander of the Colorado River and a geologic masterpiece. The area had been uplifted 5-6 million years ago, trapping the river, which cut downwards to form this 270-degree bend. We hiked to the overlook, which looks down @ 1000 ft. An amazing view!
