Our Turkey adventure is over, and we have boarded the M/V Athena, a small ship designed to carry around 50 passengers. We will be on this ship for about a week as we cruise the Greek Isles.

It is owned, operated, and staffed by Overseas Adventure Travel (our travel company). We like small ships (26 cabins), but this ship still has more than we need…. ship’s library, lounge/bar with leather couches and soft chairs. large dining room, a Sun Deck, etc. This little boat below may look like the tug boat….but it will be our home for 7 glorious days!!

We will be cruising the Greek Islands…just 6 of them!
Greece has around 6,000 islands and islets scattered across the Aegean and Ionian Seas, though only about 227 of these islands are inhabited. These islands vary in size, from large, well-known ones like Crete, Rhodes, and Corfu, to smaller, more remote ones. These islands are famous for their natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural charm, attracting millions of visitors each year.
The Greek islands are divided into several groups. We will be visiting only the first two of the groups of those listed below:
- Cyclades (includes Santorini and Mykonos)
- Dodecanese (includes Rhodes and Kos)
- Ionian Islands (includes Corfu and Zakynthos)
- Saronic Islands (includes Hydra and Aegina)
- Sporades (includes Skiathos and Skopelos)
- North Aegean Islands (includes Lesbos and Samos)
- Crete (the largest and southernmost Greek island)
