Wow wow wow!!! This excursion took us to Lake Bled which features a 17th-century Baroque chapel perched on an islet in the middle of the lake. This is one of those places that seems almost too perfect to be real โ emerald waters, a tiny island with a white church, and a medieval castle watching from the cliffs

The 800 year-old castle clings to the top of a rocky cliff along the lakeโฆ..all with an amazing snow-covered vista of the Julian Alps in the background. We have to say it is one of the most beautiful sites in all of our travels and we were so fortunate to have a perfect weather day to enjoy it.

We rode a traditional pletna boat (kind of like Slovenia’s version of a gondola ride!) to the island, where we hiked up 99 steps to the

The church is most famous for its bellโฆ.the story is that ringing it three times will make your secret wishes come true. We rang it together but forgot to discuss our wishes ahead of timeโฆ.we think they have already been granted anyway!

We hiked up to ๐ฝ๐ก๐๐ ๐พ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ but took this picture from the island! What an intoxicating view!

While in the castle, we helped print a work on a replica of the Gutenberg press.

Unfortunately, it was not open to visit during COVID so we stood in front of it being served cherry brandy by our guide, Martina!

Tito was always a part of our discussions in these former Yugoslavian countriesโฆ..there are people who loved him and people who hated him. At least his form of communism was not nearly as repressive as Albaniaโs.
