Lithuania

Lithuania may be small on the map, but it carries a remarkable depth of history and heart. Lithuania was once the heart of a vast medieval empire, was later suppressed under Soviet rule, and is today part of modern Europe.

The southernmost of the three Baltic nations, it’s a country where medieval castles rise from misty lakes, and songs of freedom still echo in the streets. The national identity is deeply rooted in language, song, and faith — all of which helped sustain them through centuries of upheaval.

We have only visited the country once… from the cobbled courtyards of its capital, Vilnius, to the wild dunes of the Curonian Spit…but we found the country truly captivating. This is another Baltic country that stayed in the mind long after leaving… These are a few of our memories.
